Due to problems with all three of us being free at the same time, we only had one day to film. However, in order to make the most out of this day we woke up at 5am so that we had as much time as possible. Firstly, we filmed the last scene where Joelle has a shower, which results in the burns on her skin. We chose to film this scene first because then we could move onto the scene where she puts onto her makeup so that she could leave that on for when she had to go into work later on. We then washed off the burns makeup and filmed the scenes in order as this made most sense to our schedule. For the scene in the shop, we were able to film in the Co-op just around the corner from my house. We simply asked one of the people who worked there and due to the time being early hours of the morning, the shop was not busy and so we were able to film. We encountered quite a few problems along the way, such as the fake blood not coming off Joelle’s face or struggling with the smoothness of shots due to our lack of use of the Steadicam. However, we overcame these problems fairly well and managed to continue filming. In the end, we managed to film everything that we had wanted to. Here is our finished film…
Although the shots are not as smooth as we had initially wanted them to be, we are glad that we decided to experiment with the camera as now we have practised and so could use these techniques next year in our A2 coursework. Arguably, one of our most unsteady shots is the one towards the end showing the shampoo and the feet. We were keen to cut this shot when editing, however it turned out to be the only shot where you can see the shampoo bottle and so we had to leave it in as this was the entire point of the task! Although this was fairly annoying, it has taught us to film each shot at least twice when filming next year. Overall, Emelia and I are happy with how our film turned out.
